August is somewhat special to us – our Chief Happiness Officer (others would call this new position “The Chief Executive”, but Kate resists – she has come here to inspire and not to rule with a ruler or pin the pins) is having a double celebration – it has been 17 years since she jumped into the waters of marketing AND Armadillo has selected her as the best employee of the month. This is a great introduction before sharing Kate's story with the rest of the world.
Kate – the bearer of armadillo's armour of creativity, always goes all the way. She was born in Liepaja, and although she has settled in Riga at the moment, that little piece of the sea still helps her to regain strength and find the balance of mind.
Considering the enormous experience Kate has had, one could well assume that the idea of becoming a marketing expert one day came to her along with the mother's milk, but the real story is a little bit different. In the beginning, Kate believed political sciences to be her true calling and that she will change the world. But the life took its own path, and Kate happened to join a creative agency as an assistant. Within a month, she read a huge book entitled “Advertising” and realized - there really is something to it!
Step by step, through a hard work, with a great deal of dedication, patience and willpower, Kate proved herself and ever since she has been a part of the marketing world discovering its different aspects while working on creative tasks, managing media projects – both in small and large agencies, being in charge of business development and brand communication management projects. As the right piece of puzzle, the new challenge perfectly fits into the whole picture – to become the manager of Armadillo, the social media and content agency. By the way, finding out about our StoryTeller project, Kate makes a shy remark that she fits the Instagram influencer's profile.
Now, let as look at Kate from a little bit different angle – while studying at the university, Kate has been Jelena Prokopcuka II (almost), a great dog lover even managing to become a member of Latvian Kennel Federation and breeding the lovely and funny Scottish terriers. On her free time, Kate studied Chinese and somehow happened to collaborate with the Chinese Embassy (she helped the new entrepreneurs from Latvia to find their why in the great and unfamiliar Asian market).
Kate loves to talk about China and she shares with us an interesting fact that she learned during her stay in Hong Kong. You shall not place a teapot on the table so that its spout would point at someone, is considered to be rude in China.
We are very proud that Kate has achieved all this while being a mum to her two children. Actually it would be more precise to use the term – super mum. The magic recipe? Perfect planning to sustain a balance between the important things so that the family, the coworkers and the clients would all feel that they are looked after and cared for.
Sometimes it seems that Kate is capable of pretty much anything and everything, but there is a tiny, little secret – she would not have the guts to go skydiving. But there is a key to everything – to be a step closer to her childhood dream and the parachute, yesterday Kate joined the school for pilots. Now, we can be sure that it will be much easier to reach the sky and bring down the stars!
Kate, cheers! To you!
